maraschino cherries are commonly, if not always, dyed with cocchineal, a red dye made of crushed up female cocchineal bugs. if you're getting an amaretto sour at a place that makes it properly, then you'll have to ask them to leave the cherry out. 10  out of 10 found this valuable. Do you?
